Character Education

Have you noticed our faculty and staff wearing monthly character trait pins?  It's all part of our character development program.

Each month, Pastor Jorge introduces us to our new character trait during Flag Salute.  Students receive their character trait book to take home each month as well!  Teachers read the monthly character trait book during Godly Play and Sacred Studies classes.  However, the character traits are reinforced in every class.

Learn more about our program by visiting the Cloud9World website.

Here is an excerpt from the Cloud 9 website:

Cloud9World provides an evidence-based program to teach children the virtues essential for the positive development of their lives and their communities.  Cloud9World,  is a Character Strengths Building Program that engages students, is flexible yet robust enough for the instruction in the classroom, and cleverly involves parents at home by providing quality materials at no charge to parents for extended use with younger brothers and sisters.

The hub of the program, the student character strength books, provide all students with a book every month focused on a character strength introduced to a child by a friendly animal as part of the story line.  Beautiful artwork and color adorn the pages of stories, set in countries from around the world with a diverse group of characters.  Children read the books in the classroom led by the teacher and are then able to take them home to keep and share with their families.

In the classroom, teachers use the Beyond the Book lesson plans to engage students in a variety of literacy-based activities in the areas of reading, writing, speaking & listening, and research to help them experience, practice and apply the character strengths.
