Instilling a strong foundation for lifelong learning

Exploration, Engagement, and Empowerment

At St. Stephen's, your child receives more personalized attention. We achieve this through smaller class sizes, with a student to teacher ratio of 6:1. In Pre-K through SK, each class has an assistant teacher in addition to the teacher. In Grades 1 through 5 we have a co-teaching model with three qualified teachers and often work in small groups. As they move into special area classes, students are in smaller groups. Each student can reach his/her full potential in our challenging curriculum that ignites the imagination.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Day School instills virtues essential to moral development, while simultaneously fostering an appreciation for the arts. We promote a growth mindset, valuing each child's unique genius. Graduates of St. Stephen's are eloquent and confident presenters, drawing from a foundation of public speaking ranging from Flag Salute presentations and announcements, Grade 5 Acolyte duties, drama productions, speech contests, and the annual Christmas Pageant.

Students are taught essential digital literacy skills, which gives them an early advantage. Our technology innovators empower students by allowing them to chose the technology tool that best suits the needs of their particular project. St. Stephen's is a certified school in Digital Citizenship.

Many cross-curricular collaborations happen all throughout the year. Students create masks in art class that reflect back to their social studies lesson on indigenous tribes of Florida. Another example is the Mini Metric Olympics in which the math, PE, and science teachers all work together to create a hands-on lesson in measurement based on Olympic events. Our teachers enjoy collaborating together to create a rich learning environment for each of our students.

Students participate in unique opportunities to learn beyond the classroom. From field trips to Key Biscayne Nature Center, Seacamp, and St. Augustine, to singing the national anthem at the Marlins game, the student experience at St. Stephen’s extends into our world.
