Instilling a strong foundation for lifelong learning

At St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School, advanced technology is leveraged alongside progressive teaching approaches to facilitate student learning. Our students are curious problem solvers who collaborate together to create digital products, sharing their knowledge with the world through reflective personal blogs and documenting their learning in a digital portfolio. Each student in Grade 1 through Grade 5 has their own iPad, included in tuition. Pre-K through Senior K also have access to class sets of iPads that are utilized through whole group instruction and center time when developmentally appropriate.

The EdTech Team at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Day School are advocates of innovative education and they work together alongside teachers to create relevant learning experiences for students. Technology is viewed as a tool to help facilitate knowledge creation. Meaningful learning experiences give students a voice and a choice and empower them to take ownership of their learning. Students apply 21st-century skills such as critical problem solving, communication, and creativity. Our school harnesses the collaborative power of cloud computing; we are proud to be a Google Apps for Education (GAFE) school. Digital citizenship is instilled in students as they create a positive online presence. While technology is an important skill to master in the Information Age, at St. Stephen’s we never forget the importance of character development and that each student matters. St. Stephen's graduates know how to pursue their passions as empowered inquirers, confident in their technical prowess.

Jr. FabLab- Pre-K through Grade 2

In this play-based discovery area, students spend much of their time building and tinkering. LEGOs, foam and wooden blocks, a sand table, and ramp construction materials are but a few of the many materials that are available to the children.

FabLab- Grade 3 through Grade 5

The FabLab is an airy space located on the second floor of the Main Highway Pavilion. Older students engage in projects with a longer duration than Jr. FabLab experiences. Problem-solving and discovery drives STEM education through individual exploration and classroom collaboration.
